Binge drinking refers to the consumption of a large quantity of alcohol within a short period of time, typically in order to become intoxicated or to reach a high level of drunkenness. It is often characterized by drinking a significant amount of alcohol in a single session, usually defined as consuming five or more standard drinks for men and four or more for women within a span of around two hours. Binge drinking is associated with a range of negative consequences including impaired judgment, increased risk of accidents or injuries, physical health problems, and potential long-term alcohol-related issues.
