et tu

"Et tu" is a Latin phrase that translates to "and you" in English. It is famously associated with the play "Julius Caesar" by William Shakespeare. In the play, these words are spoken by Caesar as he is being assassinated by Marcus Brutus, one of his closest allies. The phrase signifies Caesar's surprise and disappointment that even someone he considered a friend would betray him. Over time, "et tu" has come to represent the feeling of betrayal by someone who was trusted or believed to be loyal.
